Hey! Michelle here, the creator and cookie designer behind Prairie Whisk, formally known as Miche’s Niche.
Miche’s Niche started out as a creative outlet during my time as a professional 100m hurdler. I have always been fascinated with cake decorating since I was little as my uncle would make fancy cakes for my birthdays. However, I didn’t dive deep into the baking world until university when I suffered a major injury keeping me from my sport. I starting baking as a way to cope and got a job with a professional wedding cake designer in Toronto, where I worked for a couple of years. After moving home to Saskatoon, I started getting baking requests from friends and family, and Miche’s Niche eventually turned into a registered business.
Miche’s Niche kept me busy during my time as an athlete and I was able to use my business as I way to finance my track career. Being able to pursue both my passions at the same time was a dream come true. However, as my track career is winding down, I decided to rebrand and create Prairie Whisk. As much as I love baking cakes, I have decided to turn my attention to cookie decorating. As a home baker, I don’t have the space and resources to do everything (maybe one day if I can find a commercial kitchen I will expand again).
I would also like to use this space to create a blog to share some of my favorite recipes and fun tutorials. Be sure to sign up for my newsletter and follow me on social media to receive Prairie Whisk’s latest news first!
