Hi friends!
This post feels a little extra special—not just because I’m sharing my go-to summer drink (hellooo, Iced Lavender Latte), but because life around here is about to change in the sweetest, biggest way possible.
But first… let’s talk lavender.
I just planted a lavender plant in our backyard this spring. I love the idea of snipping my own little sprigs one day for baking or drinks, but for now, I’m letting it settle in and get cozy while I reach for my bag of dried lavender from the pantry. It feels so fitting that while this little plant grows and blooms, I’m also here—waiting (not so patiently!) for our baby to make their debut any day now.
So while I wait—and wait—I’ve been sipping on this Iced Lavender Latte like it’s my new daily ritual. It’s creamy, lightly floral, and just feels like summer in a glass. Honestly, it’s been such a small, lovely way to slow down and enjoy these quiet (but slightly restless) days before life gets very busy in a brand-new way.
A Little Prairie Whisk Life Update
Since baby is on the way any day now, I figured it’s the perfect time to fill you in on what’s happening with Prairie Whisk over the next little while.

👉 I’m officially hitting “pause” on most baking this summer. My plan is to soak up all the newborn cuddles, adjust to this whole motherhood thing, and give myself space to rest and enjoy this new season. I might open up a custom order spot here and there (if I get the baking itch or things feel manageable), but for the most part—it’ll be a quiet kitchen for the next couple of months.
👉 Fall will bring a slow return to baking. I do plan to fire up the mixer again once autumn rolls around (because let’s be honest—I won’t be able to resist pumpkin spice season). But my schedule will look a little different than before: fewer custom orders, small batch bakes, and lots of cozy seasonal treats. I’ll share updates here and on Instagram when I have goodies available or preorder spots open.
I’m so, so grateful for your support, patience, and kindness as Prairie Whisk takes this little maternity leave pause. This business wouldn’t exist without you cheering me on, ordering cookies for your celebrations, and sending the sweetest messages.

Alright—onto the good stuff. Here’s how you can make this dreamy lavender latte at home. Perfect for a quiet morning on the deck, nap breaks, or just pretending you’re sitting in a cute little coffee shop somewhere.

Double shot of Espresso
1 tbsp Lavender Sugar Syrup
1 cup milk of choice (I’m loving oat or whole milk)
Ice
- Lavender Sugar Syrup
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup dried culinary lavender
Directions
- Make the lavender syrup: In a small pot, stir together water, sugar, and lavender. Warm over medium heat until the sugar dissolves—about 3–4 minutes. Take it off the heat and let the lavender steep for 10 minutes. Strain and cool.
- Build your latte: Brew a double shot of espresso straight into mason jar (or tall glass will work). Add one tablespoon sugar syrup to espresso and stir. Add in one scoop of ice and top with frothed milk.
- Stir, sip, and enjoy the floral, creamy, summery goodness.
If you make this latte, please tag me on Instagram @prairiewhisk—I’d love to see your pretty creations while I’m on baby duty. And stay tuned… this fall will bring cozy bakes, pumpkin spice, maybe a new cookie flavour or two—and lots of baby updates.
Until then, thanks so much for being here, for your excitement and patience, and for being the best part of this little baking business of mine.
Wishing you a summer full of slow mornings, iced lattes, and whatever season of life you’re growing through, too.
